VR
DGen can show the scene in VR, the body life size in front of you, and your own hands press, grab and pinch it.
What you need
- A PC with Windows and a strong graphics card, running DGen and Chrome (or Edge).
- A Meta Quest connected to the PC with Quest Link (a cable) or Air Link, the Meta Quest app on the PC set as the OpenXR runtime.
A Mac cannot run VR here: Meta offers no Link app for macOS. The Quest's own browser does not run DGen either.
Enter VR
- Connect your Quest with Link, so its home is the PC's.
- In the studio on the PC, pick the tool your hands will use (see below).
- Click Enter VR, the last button of the camera box. It shows only when your browser and headset offer VR.
- Put on the headset. You stand 0.8 m from the body, facing it, on its floor.
Your hands
Each hand is a hand of the body's own skin, tracked or posed by the controller:
| You do | It does |
|---|---|
| Point with your index finger | The fingertip presses into the skin, always. |
| Make a fist, or squeeze the grip | Grab: the palm holds the flesh. With Bone or Pin picked in the tools, it holds a bone instead. |
| Thumb on index, or the trigger | Pinch: two fingers pinch the flesh. |
| A or X | Switches the grip between Grab and Bone. |
| Thumbstick left or right | Turns you 30 degrees around the body. |
| Thumbstick forward or back | Steps you 0.25 m. |
A hand that grabs the body's hand clasps it: its fingers close around yours, and you can raise it and shake it. Holds slip past the tool's Slip setting, as with the mouse. Your hands never pause the clip.
What does not work yet
The controls are on the page, not in the headset: pick the tool and the scene before you enter VR. There is no passthrough and no haptics.
